Sai Kung Green Egg Isalnd
Difficulties: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
Sai kung Green Egg Island has always been a popular spot for diving. It is not until recent years after the television shared the Sai Kung kayaking guide for kayaking in this magnificent shoreline, that it became the most popular kayaking spot in Sai Kung.
The Green Egg Island got its name from the appearance of the egg-like shape with green plants covering the top of it. The water surrounded is clear like glass (words from visitors), which is perfect for snorkeling and fun diving.
However, more and more news and reports indicated the blooming visitors stepped foot on the island and the kayaks dragged on the rocks and perhaps coral reef, has caused the ecosystem to worsen and bringing irreversible damages to the storeline.
Please bring your own trash aways and uphold the “LEAVE NO TRACE” principle while in nature.

What to prepare ?
I am sure after reading this Ultimate Sai Kung Kayaking Guild, you are ready to gear up and gather all your friends to explore the beach/ ocean and have a nice holiday in Sai Kung.
Apart from the gear that are provided by the rental companies like life jacket, paddle and apparently the kayaks (LOL). There are a few things that you might want to bring along with you.
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
Apart from receiving direct sunlight from the sun, the reflected sunlight from the surface of the sea will also damage your eyes. That is why you should have a pair of polarized sunglasses with you while kayaking.
- Hat
As mentioned above, hats provide shade for your face. *We suggest hats like bucket hats.
- Rash guard
Not only the protection from the strong UV light from the Sun, Rash Guard could also prevent the string from jellyfish.
- Gloves
Gloves provide a better grab while kayaking. It also protects you from rock cutting.
- Waterproof Bags
In order to keep your personal belongings with you, it is better to have a waterproof bag to keep everything dry and safe while kayaking.
- Waterproof Phone Case
Unlike waterproof bags, having a waterproof phone case is much more convenient for you to pull out your phone to record the happy time you have while kayaking with friends. And also keep your phone away from salt water.
- Beach Towel (sand repellant)
What is better than laying on the sand and sunbathing? What is better than having a towel that serves this purpose AND could dry you up at the same time.
- Wet Shoes
- Food and Drinks
*We recommended fruit with high sugar content/ chocolate bar for recovery and drinking water.
Beginner’s Note
- Check the weather before you book
- Plan your route
- Do not drink alcohol before go
- Team up with at least one friend
- Must wear a life vest
- Pick calm waterbody
There you go, this is the ultimate Sai Kung Kayaking Guild. I wish you a great trip!
